The Passing of Baron St. John of Fawsley, 18 May 1929 – 2 March 2012

The Bow Group was saddenned to hear of the passing of one of its most notable alumni, Norman St John Stevas PC FRSL. As a founding member of the Bow Group his intellect and influence contributed to the character of the organisation in its fledgling years. Senior Patron of the Bow Group, Lord Howe commented: "Norman was probably the most sparkling – though egocentric – young intellectual Tory of his generation." He was a model for the intellectual Tory, as comfortable in philosophical as in political debate. His contributions to public life were considerable, though often overlooked as the zenith of his political maturity marked him out of step with the character of the government of the day.  Both the Bow Group and the Conservative Party will miss his thought and influence.
