Bow Group Brexit Poll – 95% of conservatives support Brexit electoral pact, 93% support a no deal Brexit by October 31st

Sep 15, 2019 | Articles, Publications

“The Bow Group is Britain’s oldest conservative think tank and the place where Brexit sprang from in the work of senior members like Sir Bill Cash MP and the Maastricht rebels in the late 80s and early 90s. Our members and supporters are extremely representative of what and how conservatives and Brexiteers think. We put a Brexit survey out to our 50,000 supporters, and over 24 hours more than 3000 people responded. The results show an overwhelming trend: 96% want to see Britain leave the EU by October 31st, 93% want us to leave without a deal, and 95% want to see an electoral pact between the Brexit Party and Conservatives to deliver Brexit and take Britain forward. Boris became Prime Minister via the support of conservatives and Brexiteers, this is his base, and this is what his base thinks. ”

Benjamin Harris-Quinney, Chairman, The Bow Group

Boris became Prime Minister via the support of conservatives and Brexiteers, this is his base, and this is what his base thinks.

No one person is responsible for achieving the Brexit vote, but it can be said without equivocation that it would not have happened without Nigel Farage.

You can count the Brexiteers on one hand who think (as has been stated by the Downing Street Press Office) that Nigel Farage is not a proper person, unfortunately all of them now work in close proximity to the government. They are holding the nation hostage to their own personal historic squabbles, their views are not the views of the rank and file Conservative members & voters, nor those of Brexiteers or the nation at large.

In 2015 the Bow Group recommended a grassroots electoral pact between the Conservatives and UKIP, and we maintain that so long as the right is divided strong stable government will be out of reach. We hope that the Conservatives, the Brexit Party and UKIP can find a way to work together, but if it cannot be worked out from the top down it will have to be done at grassroots level from the bottom up. If that means putting old coalitions like Grassroots Out, Leave.EU and Leave Means Leave back together then so be it.

This is a crucial time for Britain, even in the context of our great and storied history. It’s a time to put petty differences aside and form an unstoppable Brexit coalition to take us out of the EU by November, if Boris cannot even unite the Brexit movement he will never unite the country.”
