The Bow Group & members of the Brexit Advance Coalition call on the Prime Minister to resign

Nov 14, 2018 | Archive, Policies

The Bow Group & members of the Brexit Advance Coalition call on the Prime Minister to resign immediately
“If you are an MP who cannot support Theresa May’s Brexit deal, such is its significance, you surely cannot continue to support her Premiership”
Cllr Benjamin Harris-Quinney, Chairman, The Bow Group

“It is now abundantly clear that it is in the interests of the party and the country for Theresa May to go”
Simon Richards, Chairman, The Freedom Association

“Following her terrible deal Blue Wave calls for Theresa May to go, all our members must also give their support to any MPs who demand she leaves now”
Steven Woolfe, Chairman, Blue Wave

  • Following failure to negotiate an appropriate Brexit deal Britain’s oldest conservative think-tank the Bow Group and members of the Brexit Advance Coalition (which includes the Bow Group Bruges Group, Freedom Association, Parliament Street, & the Campagin for Conservative Democracy) call on the Prime Minister to resign with immediate effect
  • We are advising all conservative MPs to now send in their letters of no confidence to the Chairman of the 1922 Committee
  • A caretaker leader should be brought in under the shortest allowable timetable for the 1922 Committee, to be followed by a full leadership election before the Party membership, once the Brexit process is completed.
Quotes:

“David Cameron left office on the basis that the Brexit result needed a Brexiteer leader and a Brexit Government to implement the referendum campaign promises. We instead got a remain supporting leader and a Cabinet staffed by 70% remain supporters.

Theresa May has demonstrated with her final deal that she has been unable to implement what the British people voted for in Brexit, it is therefore time for her to stand aside.

If members of the ERG intend to vote Theresa May’s proposed Brexit deal down, then they surely cannot support her continuation as Prime Minister and chief negotiator, they and all other conservative MPs must now act to grant the nation a clear and prompt path out of the European Union. If you are an MP who cannot support Theresa May’s Brexit deal, such is its significance, you surely cannot continue to support her Premiership.

We would support a caretaker Brexit supporting leader coming in to lead us out of the EU, where after democracy should be bought back to the Conservative Party for a full election before the Party membership as soon as is appropriate.”
