The Bow Group Black Tie Summer Dinner, with Lord Michael Howard

The Bow Group Council are delighted to invite members and friends to our annual summer black tie dinner with our senior patron and former leader of the Conservative Party, Lord Michael Howard.

To take place on Thursday 17th July, 19:00

We  shall be spending the evening at the ‘Inn The Park’, which is situated right in the middle of St James’s Park which shall provide an excellent backdrop to the event.

For £39.50, guests will receive a three course meal, a glass of wine and a tea or filter coffee after the meal.

About Lord Howard

A former Chairman and current Senior Patron of the Bow Group, Michael Howard was the Leader of the Conservative Party and Leader of the Opposition from November 2003 to December 2005. He previously held cabinet positions in the governments of Margaret Thatcher and John Major, including Secretary of State for Employment (1990-92), Secretary of State for the Environment (1992-93) and Home Secretary (1993-97).
He became a Member of Parliament in the 1983 general election, and in 1985 joined the Government as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department of Trade and Industry in 1985 with responsibility for regulating the financial dealings of the City of London.

In 1987 he became Minister for Local Government, then Minister for Water and Planning in 1988 before joining the Cabinet first as Secretary of State for Employment, then Secretary of State for the Environment, and became Home Secretary in 1993.

In Opposition, Michael Howard served as Shadow Home Secretary, Shadow Foreign Secretary, Shadow Chancellor, and Leader of the Opposition. He led the Conservative Party to the general election of 2005.
