Bow Group chairman Ben Harris-Quinney told Breitbart London that Britain needs a reform of its democratic mechanisms so that constituents who are unhappy with the performance of their elected representatives can recall their MPs and possibly replace them.

Mr Harris-Quinney made the remarks in response to reports of possible plans to give British Members of Parliament a £2,000 pay raise. The Bow Group chairman said that instead of being automatically given to all elected representatives, raises should be linked to “performance” and that voters should be given the power to “change and censure their MPs when they don’t feel are earning their wages”.

“Good MPs should be paid reasonably, but we need democratic reform and a primary and recall system for MPs that means if the public don’t feel they’re delivering they can be removed and replaced, regardless of whether they are in a safe seat, or what central parties or Westminster bureaucrats think,” the Bow Group chairman said.
